課程概述 |
For the understanding of Southeast Asian cultures and peoples, this course will explain the general historical change from the 19th century to the 1990’s by focusing on cultural change.
In this area, what is formed is not a gathering of each history of present nations, but total perspectives based on several important historical waves;
1. The Early Colonization (the period of mercantilism: before 18th C.), 2. The Imperialism (19th C.), 3. The Birth of Nationalism (first half of the 20th C.), 4. The Decolonization (the 1940’s & 50’s), 5. The Cold War (the 1960’s), 5. The New Change Period (the 1970’s & 80’s)
Generally Southeast Asian history in the Modern times was recorded by documents written in several languages. For easier understanding this course will focus on material cultural elements or pictorial data in each period.
